Ancaster Small Fry Pre-School Inc.

Ancaster Small Fry Co-operative Preschool was established in 1967 by a local group of parents seeking alternative educational care for their young children.

We are proud to have one of the few programs for toddlers in Ancaster! Children ages 1 ½ to 5 years are eligible for enrolment. And, although toilet-training is encouraged, it is not a pre-requisite for enrolment. We also have a fenced outdoor playground which we use regularly throughout the year.

The preschool operates regularly from September through June, on Tuesdays to Fridays, from 9 AM to 12 Noon (excluding holidays).

We work with the following age groups:

- Toddlers (ages 1 ½ to 2), and

- Preschool (ages 2 to 5).

Our two wonderful and dedicated teachers have many years of experience with toddler and preschool aged children. They are both members of the Affiliated Services for Children and Youth (ASCY) professional association. The ASCY provides our teachers with access to a professional resource library and regular professional education workshops, thus allowing them to continue to develop their skills.

The preschool is insured, and is an active member of the Hamilton & District Council of Co-operative Preschools Corporation (HDCCPC), which guides and directs preschools in Hamilton and surrounding areas. The HDCCPC provides flexibility to families who choose Co-operative Preschool, allowing parents the opportunity to be directly involved in their child’s education. The HDCCPC promotes an inclusive environment for children and families with a variety of individual needs and is responsible for the administration of the Hamilton & District Council Integration Program for special needs children in co-op preschools within the Hamilton area.

Ancaster Small Fry has been an active member of the Raising the Bar initiative in Hamilton since 2005. This initiative provides a framework of best practices to guide early learning and child care operators in delivering high quality services for children and families.
