Northlea Community Child Care

The Northlea Community Child Care (NCCC) is located in the school. The child care office is located on the first floor at the northwest corner (closest entrance is through the playground in the northwest corner of the school).  The childcare center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They provide 124 spaces for children 2.5 – 12 years old who are enrolled or are eligible to be enrolled at Northlea.  There are currently vacancies for children enrolled at Northlea.

Northlea Child Care Centre also offers a summer camp annually for children in Grades 1 through 6. Registration begins in January. For more information on the child care or summer program call 416-424-2890.

The licensee shall ensure that the Licensing Inspection Summary is posted in a conspicuous place in the child care centre at or near an entrance commonly used by parents. The licensee shall ensure that the completed Licensing Checklist and the Summary of Licensing Requirements and Recommendations sheets are readily available for parents.
On the first operational day of each month, the operator shall confirm that a fire drill has been conducted for the previous month.
The kindergarten and/or school age program are licensed to operate before- and after- school and full-day on PA days and school holidays.
Room 118A is licensed for use by a group of 24 preschool children.
Room 118B is licensed for use by a group of 15 Toddler children.
All rooms as set out in the shared space confirmation are approved for use by the child care program, based on licensed capacity, provided that the room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group. The licensee is required to keep on file at the premises an up-to-date shared space confirmation. This confirmation must include the primary use of the room during the school day and must be made available to Ministry of Education staff upon request. Before changes are made to shared space the operator shall obtain an up to date signed shared space confirmation document.
Guidelines and sample menus for preparing bag lunches which meet Canada's Food Guide, as well as procedures for refrigeration or the use of ice packs with bag lunches, shall be provided to each parent and posted at the centre. The operator shall review this information with parents at the time of enrolment and the information shall be included in the centre's parent handbook. The centre shall ensure back-up procedures are in place if a bag lunch is forgotten.

Director approval is granted for bagged lunches for kindergarten and school age children persuant to ss.42(2)(1) of Ontario Regualtion 137/15
Director Approval is granted for mixed age grouping pursuant to ss. 8(2) and (3) of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
Director approval is granted for the use of specified rooms/areas that may have less than 2.58 square metres of unobstructed floor space for each child in a licensed kindergarten, primary/junior school age and/or junior school age group, based on the licensed capacity, provided that the same room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group.
