Summer Camps 2015

Adventures in Archaeology Camp: Ages 10 to 14

June 29 to July (9 days) 10 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Give your children the rare and exciting experience of being part of an actual archaeological dig. They’ll learn to excavate, analyze and record artifacts and work alongside professionals. Past participants have uncovered artifacts dating from the 19th century. The program includes field trips and games. Book early because spaces are limited!

Spadina Safari Camp – Mornings: Ages 5 to 7

July 6 to 10 (5 mornings) 9 a.m. to Noon

A small camp of only 15 participants ensures every child has a positive and personal experience.  Children explore a new and different theme each day through games, storytelling, creating great art projects, and enjoying hands-on activities like historic cooking, garden exploration and dress up play.

Full day Spadina Safari Camp: Ages 5 to 7

Aug. 24 to 28 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A small camp of only 15 participants ensures every child has a positive and personal experience.  Children explore a new and different theme each day through games, storytelling, creating great art projects, and enjoying hands-on activities like historic cooking, garden exploration and dress up play.

Big Screen Movie Makers Camp: Ages 8 to 12

July 13 to 24  (10 days) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 1920s marked the birth of the film age. Campers will explore early cinematic forms such as slapstick, cliffhangers (continuing drama) and gumshoe movies as well as silent film and early animation.  They will learn about the different jobs on a set like actor, director, costumes, set and make-up. Campers will work together to create their own masterpiece, which will be screened at the end of the 2 weeks.  Each camper will get their own DVD of the film they help to create.

Photo Camp: Ages 8 to 12

July 27 to August 7 (9 days) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kids will take photos in this beautiful and unique setting which includes 5.7 acres of gardens, lawns and orchards as well as a mansion restored to the 1920s and 30s.  They will explore the experimental techniques used during the birth of this art form and will create an exhibit to be enjoyed by friends and family.  All the equipment necessary will be provided. 

Movie Monsters Camp; Ages 8 to 12

August 10 to 21 (10 days) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the 1930s vampires, zombies and Frankenstein invaded darkened movie theatres for the first time. Campers will work together to create their own monster movie classics, which will be screened at the end of the 2 weeks. Each camper will get their own DVD of the film they help to create.
