Most of all, you want your child to get the attention and love he or she needs to develop self-esteem and self-confidence. 

History

For over 40 years,  the YMCA of Greater Toronto has provided quality licensed child care programs with exceptionally high standards of care and education meeting or exceeding Provincial and Municipal licensing requirements. . Today we are the largest not for profit provider of Licensed Child Care in Canada with programs for children from infancy to 12 years throughout the GTA. All of our centres open early and close late to fit the schedule of parents and families.  

We currently operate:

  • More than 250 licensed child care programs
  • Programming for infants to 12 years of age
  • Programs for children in half day and alternating day kindergarten (full day care is available space permitting during school breaks and P.A. Days)
  • Part-time program options in select locations
  • Standard hours of operation are Monday to Friday,  7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The licensee shall ensure that the Licensing Inspection Summary is posted in a conspicuous place in the child care centre at or near an entrance commonly used by parents. The licensee shall ensure that the completed Licensing Checklist and the Summary of Licensing Requirements and Recommendations sheets are readily available for parents.
The licensee shall develop and implement policies and procedures for bagged lunches that include: • guidelines and sample menus for preparing bagged lunches which meet the recommendations of Canada’s Food Guide; • allergy awareness procedures, including prohibited foods (e.g., peanuts); • proper food storage procedures; and • back-up procedures if a bagged lunch is forgotten or does not meet nutritional requirements. The licensee shall review the bagged lunch policies and procedures with parents at the time of enrolment and the information shall be included in the centre’s parent handbook.
The kindergarten and/or school-age program are licensed to operate before and after school and full days on PA and school holidays.
The operator shall ensure that the submitted supervision plan regarding washroom routines is followed.
The school-age licensed capacity is based on the primary use of Room 110, 107, and 105.Room 105 and 107 are licensed for 18 school-age children.The gym and staff lunch room is approved for use as alternate space for the school age children. When the staff room is being used the operator shall ensure that children do not have access to the kitchen.
The operator shall follow Public Health instructions with regards to providing bagged lunches.
Room 111 is licensed for 10 toddlers. Room 109 is licensed for 24 preschoolers. Room 102,103,104 is licensed for 26 kindergarten age children in each room.

Director's Approval

Approval is granted for school-age children to use the school gym and staff lunch room as alternate space. When the staff lunch room is being used, the children will not access kitchen area.
Director approval has been granted for junior and senior kindergarten and school age children to bring bagged lunches and or snacks on PA days, March Break, school holidays and Summer period.
