Hawthorne On Essex Daycare is a licensed non-profit community based childcare centre serving children attending Essex Public School and Hawthorne II Bilingual Alternative school as well as children in the community ages 2 ½ to 12 years old.
Our daycare provides a safe, educational, fun and loving environment for your children. By providing a vast array of opportunities for children to build upon their existing strengths and skills as well as discover new ones, we nurture and guide children to become empathetic, nurturing, friendly, respectful to themselves as well as others, self-reliant, responsible and empowered individuals.
Our play based curriculum helps by preparing each child academically, socially, emotionally and physically for kindergarten readiness.

The licensee shall ensure that the Licensing Inspection Summary is posted in a conspicuous place in the child care centre at or near an entrance commonly used by parents. The licensee shall ensure that the completed Licensing Checklist and the Summary of Licensing Requirements and Recommendations sheets are readily available for parents. |
The kindergarten licensed capacity is based on the use of Roms 114 and 213 and the alternative space of Rooms 112 and 212. |
Guidelines and sample menus for preparing bag lunches which meet Canada's Food Guide, as well as procedures for refrigeration or the use of ice packs with bag lunches, shall be provided to each parent and posted at the centre. The operator shall review this information with parents at the time of enrolment and the information shall be included in the centre's parent handbook. The centre shall ensure back-up procedures are in place if a bag lunch is forgotten. |
The operator shall ensure that the approved alternative playground action safety plan dated May 22, 2014 remains in affect until a certified playground inspector's written confirmation all immediate health & safety issues have been addressed is submitted to the Ministry. |
The kindergarten and/or school age program are licensed to operate before-and-after-school and full-day on PA days and school holidays. |
The operator shall ensure that the playground rotation plan is implemented to ensure that the toddler children have the required access to outdoor plan and regularly review the plan's effectiveness. |

Director's Approval
As of August 31, 2015, Director’s Approval is granted for mixed age grouping pursuant to ss. 8(2) and (3) of Ontario Regulation 137/15. |
As of August 31, 2015, director approval is granted for the use of specified rooms/areas that may have less than 2.58 square metres of unobstructed floor space for each child in a licensed kindergarten, primary/junior school age and/or junior school age group, based on the licensed capacity, provided that the same room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group. |
