The Portraiture course is one of four Drawing Fundamentals courses designed to provide students with the essential skills and techniques needed to build a strong foundation in observational drawing. Portraiture drawing is essential for mastering the fundamentals of anatomy, proportions, and the placement of facial features, which are crucial in creating realistic and expressive portraits. Over the course of 8 classes, students will learn the Loomis Method of drawing the head from various angles, focusing on the placement and structure of facial features. They will use these skills to create realistic portraits and expressive cartoon characters.
Please note: New students at the intermediate level may need an assessment or be recommended to take other courses as a prerequisite (such as Sketching Basics (Still Life), Perspective Drawing or Art & Achievement). Please contact service@lolart.ca if you are a new and interested in this course.
The Perspective Drawing course is one of four Drawing Fundamentals courses designed to provide students with the essential skills and techniques needed to build a strong foundation in observational drawing. Over the course of five classes, students will learn one-point and two-point perspective to be able to represent three-dimensional space on a flat surface.
The Sketching Basics (Still Life) course is one of four Drawing Fundamentals courses designed to provide students with the essential skills and techniques needed to build a strong foundation in observational drawing. Sketching Basics teaches students to hone their observational drawing skills which is crucial in accurately drawing what they see, not what they think they see. Over the course of five classes, students will learn concepts like positive and negative space, contour and construction lines, value and form. The course will culminate in a final still life project.
