For over 40 years, the YMCA of Greater Toronto has provided quality licensed child care programs with exceptionally high standards of care and education meeting or exceeding Provincial and Municipal licensing requirements. . Today we are the largest not for profit provider of Licensed Child Care in Canada with programs for children from infancy to 12 years throughout the GTA. All of our centres open early and close late to fit the schedule of parents and families.

The licensee shall ensure that the Licensing Inspection Summary is posted in a conspicuous place in the child care centre at or near an entrance commonly used by parents. The licensee shall ensure that the completed Licensing Checklist and the Summary of Licensing Requirements and Recommendations sheets are readily available for parents. |
Guidelines and sample menus for preparing bag lunches/snacks which meet Canada’s Food Guide, as well as procedures for refrigeration or the use of ice packs with bag lunches, shall be provided to each parent and posted at the centre. The operator shall review this information with parents at the time of enrolment and the information shall be included in the centre’s parent handbook. The centre shall ensure back-up procedures are in place if a bag lunch/snack is forgotten. |

All rooms as set out in the shared space confirmation are approved for use by the child care program, based on licensed capacity, provided that the room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group. The operator is required to keep on file, at the premises, an up-to-date shared space confirmation. This confirmation must include the primary use of the room during the school day and must be made available to Ministry of Education staff upon request. |
The operator shall notify the ministry that any new medication that comes into the centre is labelled and medication forms completed as per the medication policy within 24 hours of receipt of the medication. |
The operator shall notify the ministry that the individual plan for any new attendee starting the program that has an anaphylactic allergy has been signed by all staff prior to the child’s start in the program. The operator shall send this notification within 5 days of the children’s start date. |
The operator to submit written confirmation of any staff changes to the Ministry within 5 days of occurrence. |
The manager shall keep written record of how the supervisor was mentored to ensure the requirements of the DNA are being met. These records will be kept on site for review by the ministry. |
Director's Approval
As of August 31, 2015, director approval is granted for the use of specified rooms/areas that may have less than 2.58 square metres of unobstructed floor space for each child in a licensed kindergarten, primary/junior school age and/or junior school age group, based on the licensed capacity, provided that the same room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group. |
Director's approval is granted in accordance with s. 22(b.1) for a playground without fencing for Jr. and Sr. kindergarten children. |
