Choosing the right child care centre can be one of the hardest decisions parents and guardians have to make. You want a child care provider with the experience to keep your child safe and happy. You want your child to learn and grow in a stimulating and fun environment. Most of all, you want your child to get the attention and love he or she needs to develop self-esteem and self-confidence. 

History

For over 40 years,  the YMCA of Greater Toronto has provided quality licensed child care programs with exceptionally high standards of care and education meeting or exceeding Provincial and Municipal licensing requirements. . Today we are the largest not for profit provider of Licensed Child Care in Canada with programs for children from infancy to 12 years throughout the GTA. All of our centres open early and close late to fit the schedule of parents and families.  

We currently operate:

  • More than 250 licensed child care programs
  • Programming for infants to 12 years of age
  • Programs for children in half day and alternating day kindergarten (full day care is available space permitting during school breaks and P.A. Days)
  • Part-time program options in select locations
  • Standard hours of operation are Monday to Friday,  7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The licensee shall ensure that the Licensing Inspection Summary is posted in a conspicuous place in the child care centre at or near an entrance commonly used by parents. The licensee shall ensure that the completed Licensing Checklist and the Summary of Licensing Requirements and Recommendations sheets are readily available for parents.
Room 120 is licensed for a group of 20 children, 44 months of age or over up to and including 67 months of age as of August 31 of the year, until August 31, 2015, when the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect. Once the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect, Room 120 is licensed for use by a Kindergarten group of 26 children and must meet the staff:child ratios identified in Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
Room 107 is licensed for a group of 20 children, 44 months of age or over up to and including 67 months of age as of August 31 of the year, until August 31, 2015, when the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect. Once the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect, Room 107 is licensed for use by a Kindergarten group of 26 children and must meet the staff:child ratios identified in Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
All rooms as set out in the shared space confirmation are approved for use by the child care program, based on licensed capacity, provided that the room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group. The operator is required to keep on file, at the premises, an up-to-date shared space confirmation. This confirmation must include the primary use of the room during the school day and must be made available to Ministry of Education staff upon request.
As of August 31, 2015, when the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect, Room 13 is licensed for use by a Primary/Junior School Age group of 30 children and must meet the staff:child ratios identified in Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
The operator shall follow the plan submitted to the Ministry of how they will ensure the individual plan and emergency procedures for children with anaphylaxis is reviewed by all students and volunteers before they begin to care for children and at least annually afterwards.

Room 119 is licensed for a group 20 children, 68 months of age or over as of August 31 of the year and up to and including 12 years of age, until August 31, 2015, when the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect. Once the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect, Room 119 is licensed for use by a Primary/Junior School Age group of 26 children and must meet the staff:child ratios identified in Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
Room130 is licensed for a group 15 children, 68 months of age or over as of August 31 of the year and up to and including 12 years of age, until August 31, 2015, when the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect. Once the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect, Room 130 is licensed for use by a Primary/Junior School Age group of 30 children and must meet the staff:child ratios identified in Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
Room 132 is licensed for a group 15 children, 68 months of age or over as of August 31 of the year and up to and including 12 years of age, until August 31, 2015, when the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect. Once the Child Care and Early Years Act and regulations come into effect, Room 132 is licensed for use by a Primary/Junior School Age group of 20 children and must meet the staff:child ratios identified in Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 137/15.

As of August 31, 2015, Director’s Approval is granted for mixed age grouping pursuant to ss. 8(2) and (3) of Ontario Regulation 137/15.
As of August 31, 2015, director approval is granted for the use of specified rooms/areas that may have less than 2.58 square metres of unobstructed floor space for each child in a licensed kindergarten, primary/junior school age and/or junior school age group, based on the licensed capacity, provided that the same room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group.
